Episode 48: Big Touch Girl (feat. Ashley Mitchell)

Updated: Sep 4, 2019

Buckle up and get ready to own your shit. This is a "wow" episode. For sure.

In Episode 33, I interviewed Kate Williard about her adoption journey.

That conversation changed me. It opened up my eyes to a world I had never truly acknowledge before.

So, when I had the opportunity to interview others about adoption, I made sure I had Katie riding co-pilot to help me host.

Ashley Mitchell is the founder of Big Tough Girl and Lifetime Healing, LLC. She’s an entrepreneur, a writer, a motivational/educational speaker and she gave her son up for adoption at the age of 26.

That was a life-altering decision for her. And one she thinks about every day.

Our discussion touches on that decision, the aftermath of that decision and how she had to hit rock bottom (then dig a little deeper) before she understood her feelings enough to begin healing.

Now she travels the country, sharing her story and working to help others through their adoption journeys.

My biggest take-away?

Validation.

All of us, no matter what we’re going through or what we’re feeling, just want to know that it is OK to feel that way. That there are others out there like us. That it’s not wrong to have the feelings we have.

Big Tough Girls (and Guys) like Ashley are busting their butts to spread that message - and the world is a better place for it.
