Episode 88: Do It Scared (featuring Dave Cooper)
Why you should always press record. Even when you're scared.
I've known Dave Cooper for years. In my previous career within the housing industry, he was one of my clients. So, while we have been aware of each other for quite some time, it was just at an acquaintance level.
However, at the 2019 International Builders Show, circumstances aligned that brought to light our shared personal and professional passions and our acquaintance-level interactions have quickly escalated into a true friendship.
I have an incredible amount of respect for Dave both personally and professionally. He's a husband and father first. I've spoken to him on many evenings where he is shuttling one of his daughters back and forth to hockey practice. Additionally, Dave is the managing director of a custom home building company and founder of Dave Cooper Live; his personal brand focusing on how video can transform businesses, specifically within the housing industry.
Dave's career began in the Army as a combat medic, then he moved to Johnson & Johnson as a consultant, then he started building homes on the side, then he went into home building full time and now he is pursuing video entrepreneurship.
And he's not done!
Dave is a testament to the fact that you are never "too old" to start something new (I'm not calling you old, Dave). While most people make excuses for why they cannot pivot and change their lives, Dave takes action.
Perfect then, that his three words were "Do It Scared." Great advice for all of us. It doesn't matter if you're fully prepared for whatever you're about to embark on. Roll up your sleeves and do it scared.
